The History Of Kenner Alumni

During our senior year of High School, 1966, Brother Aaron Broussard proposed the idea of a Louisiana Epsilon Alumni Chapter.  He composed the petition for our Charter and in late 1966, before each of us left for college, the petition was signed by all Alumni and it was mailed to the Grand Council for their approval.

We decided at one of our summer meetings to wait until the Conclave to receive our Charter. Although it was not announced, we were granted our Charter for the Kenner Alumni at the 75th Diamond Conclave held in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Returning from the Conclave with enthusiasm at its peak, the Chapter met for the first time officially on August 30, 1967.  Officers were elected and plans made to meet on all possible college holidays.

Our main objectives as an Alumni Chapter are as follow: 1) To keep the Bonds of K.E.A. around us as long as we live; 2) To keep ourselves in constant contact with each other and participate in our own social functions during the course of the year; and 3) To aid in every way possible our "little Brothers" of Louisiana Epsilon.

By late 1968 and early 1969, helped by the constant interest of the graduates of Louisiana Epsilon, our active membership reached a total of 32. The enrollment of our Chapter was boosted by our agreement that any member in good standing with Epsilon would automatically become eligible for membership upon his graduation from High School. During 1969 the Brothers of Kenner Alumni supported Louisiana Epsilon's successful rush program and their annual Christmas Formal. This year we once again went to work for charity by attending the Crippled Children's Hospital and collecting needed items for he victims of Hurricane Camille.

This year's activities came to a conclusion with the Brothers helping to organize the first Christmas Seminar in December. The Kenner Alumni also had the distinct honor of performing the Model Initiation at he 77th Grand Conclave. Our Brother's as individuals, are each deeply proud and wholly involved in every aspect of our Fraternity life. We only ask that the other Chapters in the Fraternity share this spirit and enthusiasm in keeping Phi Lambda Epsilon the Number One Fraternity in the Nation.

A note from Brother O'Brien

 I have been allowed the time to search our "Royal William" and "The Carnation" for the History of our Alumni Chapter. It has been a true honor and blessing to read and understand the loyalty of our fraternity. The date of this writing is January 8, 2003 and it has now been 36 years  that we have been meeting and accomplishing our objectives.
